Sherman Creek

When I was born, my parents lived on the Sherman Creek Game Range. When we lived there, there was a house not far from the red barn. there is no house there, now.

When we lived here, the barn was painted green, or rather, had been painted green. It was weathered looking and as I recall, the finish was natural for the most part. I was there a few years ago. It was green. It's red, now.

We used to play in the barn. We strung a rope from a beam near the apex of inside of the roof. You could swing from a loft on one side to a loft on the other.

We used to have a cow. We were required to milk that cow. Where? In the barn...

I marvel at the extreme redness of this barn.

When I was a kid, I recall the tree you see on the right hand side of the frame. I didn't get very far. The tree's branches were very close together. It was a fir tree. It was almost impossible to climb that tree.

We had a tree house. I was going to pretend that this tree was the tree the tree house was in. It's not, really. Although it is a nice, 40 year old maple tree, it was but a sapling when I lived there. I wasn't sure it was going to live. Evidently, it did. There tree the tree house was in may have fallen down or been removed.
